The common curriculum for fellows includes the Fellows College, a regular, every four-month lecture series that all fellows attend. The three-hour blocks consist of a one-hour lecture for all fellows followed by two-hour small group interactive workshops in which fellows are divided up by training year. In addition, fellows attend a lunch time ethics curriculum.
Topics covered in recent Fellows College Sessions:
Regular lunchtime conferences covering biomedical ethics topics an interactive forum. Experts from within Department of Pediatrics and from the larger Northwestern community help lead these discussions.
Research Scholars Day is an annual Departmental event held each spring in which fellows are expected to present their scholarly work to the Lurie Children's community. Fellows submit an abstract and poster for review and feedback. Fellows learn to present their work in a concise and clear manner; a skill necessary for an academic career. It is also an excellent networking opportunity for all attendees.
