Pediatrics Residency Program

Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine's pediatric residency program is consistently one of the most sought after in the country.  Affiliated with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago (Lurie Children’s), ranked 7th in 2017 on the U.S. News World Report Best Children's Hospitals Honor Roll, residents work in one of the major academic pediatric research and teaching hospitals in the United States centered on a research-driven medical campus.  The pediatric resident training experience integrates clinical exposure with a highly diverse ethnic and socioeconomic patient population in a variety of settings.  Residents are provided a training environment that promotes autonomy and develops pediatricians with expertise in caring for infants, children and adolescents.  The residency program curriculum incorporates education in advocacy, population health, global health, medical education, quality and patient safety, community health and research for all residents.  Residents can also choose to pursue certificate programs in these areas, if interested.

Clinical Training Facilities

The program's home facility is Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago (Lurie Children’s), a Feinberg-affiliated hospital dedicated to pediatric care. Lurie Children’s is Illinois’ only freestanding hospital exclusively for children and offers patients access to world-class care in a modern, kid-friendly environment. Residents also rotate in the newborn nursery at the neighboring Feinberg affiliate, Prentice Women's Hospital
