Xiao-Di Tan

Research Professor of Pediatrics (Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition) and Pathology

The research focus in my research group is placed on three areas including (1) cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying maintenance of intestinal barrier homeostasis in inflammation, (2) mucosal immunology and pathogenesis of intestinal injury such as necrotizing enterocolitis and inflammatory bowel disease, and (3) pathogenesis of fatty liver associated liver inflammation and fibrosis.

Deepa R Nair

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Emergency Medicine)

My primary interests involve medical student & resident education, care of the acutely ill child & parental education on health maintenance for their children, preventative medicine, and child safety/injury prevention.

Katelyn E Burgess

Instructor of Pediatrics (Hospital-Based Medicine)

As a pediatric hospitalist, Dr. Burgess cares for children in a variety of clinical settings, including taking care of patients who are admitted to Lurie Children's Hospital, and seeing children at Lurie's Immediate Care clinic in Lincoln Park. She is also the Site Leader for Lurie's pediatric consultant group at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, where she helps to care for pediatric rehab patients.Additionally, Dr. Burgess supervises pediatrics residents at their primary care clinic in Lincoln Park, and she volunteers as a Clinical Skills Small Group Leader for medical students at Northwestern Univers...

Margot A Paisley

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Hospital-Based Medicine)

Dr. Paisley is a hospital-based pediatrician. She received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her completed her residency training at the former Children's Memorial Hosital (now Lurie Children's) where she served as chief pediatric resident. Her interests include improving communication with patients and families, and teaching and advising in undergraduate and graduate medical education.

Rachel G Robison

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Allergy and Immunology)

Rachel Robison, MD completed her undergraduate training at Emory University in Atlanta, GA obtaining a BS in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and received her medical degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. She moved to Chicago, IL in 2005 to complete her postgraduate residency training in Pediatrics and a subsequent fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the former Children's Memorial Hospital. Erin Talati Paquette

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Critical Care) and School of Law

I am interested in research, advocacy, and policy development that reduces health disparities, addresses bias, racism, and other structural determinants of health and promotes social justice. My current research involves evaluating disparities in research enrollment and participation, the use of medico-legal partnerships to address the social determinants of health, and understanding public perceptions of brain death. Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Advanced General Pediatrics and Primary Care) and Medical Education

Dr. Sharon Unti is the Director of the Pediatric Residency Program for McGaw Medical Center/Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine based at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. David O Walterhouse

Professor of Pediatrics (Hematology, Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation)

My primary clinical research interest lies in the area of clinical trials for pediatric patients with soft tissue sarcomas. I am a member of the soft tissue sarcoma committee of the Children's Oncology Group.  I have served as study chair for a group-wide phase III COG clinical trial for rhabdomyosarcoma. I also serve as Institutional Principal Investigator for COG. My primary basic research interest lies in understanding the regulation and function of the GLI1 oncogene, as well as understanding the role of Hedgehog-GLI1 signal transduction in pediatric solid tumors.

Laura C Torchen

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Endocrinology)

I am a clinical pediatric endocrinologist and physician-scientist engaged in clinical research focused on reproductive and metabolic disorders in children. I also have a strong interest in medical education and teaching medical studies, residents, and fellows. 

Robert I Liem

Professor of Pediatrics (Hematology, Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation)

I am the Director of the Comprehensive Sickle Cell Program at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. My clinical interests center on hemoglobin disorders, including sickle cell disease and thalassemia, for which I am also a clinical investigator with active research programs. My major research interests focus on exercise responses, inflammation and vascular function and their relationship to cardiopulmonary fitness, clinical outcomes and physical activity levels in children and young adults with sickle cell anemia.
