Gal Finer

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Nephrology)

–Dr. Gal Finer is a Board certified Pediatric Nephrologist, MD, PhD, clinician-scientist, and an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and The Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Finer acquired knowledge in genetic diseases of the kidney while serving the Bedouin population in Israel, and in molecular pathways of renal fibrosis while working in the laboratory of Dr. William H. Schnaper. Her current research interest lies in understanding the pathophysiology of Congenital Anomalies of the Kidney and Urinary Tract (CAKUT). To this end,...

Mary C Elliott

Instructor of Pediatrics (Hospital-Based Medicine)

As a hospital-based pediatrician, Dr. Elliott works at both Lurie Children's Hospital and Prentice Women's Hospital with clinical areas of focus including management of critically ill newborns in the Neonatal ICU and general pediatric acute care. Dr. Elliott’s interests also include clinical education of medical students and residents.

Leena Bhattacharya Mithal

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Infectious Diseases)

I am a Pediatric Infectious Diseases specialist with an academic focus and clinical expertise in neonatal and congenital infections. I am passionate about understanding microbial exposures in utero, perinatally, and in the first months of life, the interaction of microbes (viruses, bacteria) and the developing immune system, and the role of the microbiome in health outcomes.

Shuai (Steve) Xu

Assistant Professor of Dermatology (Translational Dermatology Research), McCormick School of Engineering and Pediatrics (Dermatology)

As a physician-engineer, Dr. Xu is interested in the translation of breakthrough electrical engineering, materials science, and health information technology towards addressing major unmet clinical needs. As Medical Director of the Center of Bio-Integrated Electronics, he has expertise within flexible device platforms, specifically phototherapy systems, addressing a wide range of dermatological and non-dermatological clinical needs. I am Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine. My focus includes high risk asthma and medical education. I also serve as the Fellowship Director of the Pediatric Pulmonology Fellowship.
