Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Palliative Care)

Originally from upstate NY, I have an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University at Albany State University of New York.  I have also earned a Masters of Public Health with a focus in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Nevada Las Vegas.  I completed my medical training at Touro University of Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine.  I have combined post-graduate training in Pediatrics, Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry as a former Triple Board Resident at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA.  I am a graduate of the Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine...

Marisa S Klein-Gitelman

Professor of Pediatrics (Rheumatology)

Dr. Marisa Klein-Gitelman has been the division head in pediatric rheumatology since 2002. She has expertise in pediatric lupus, vasculitis, uveitis and neuro inflammatory diseases. She has published/co-authored over 100 journal articles, case reports and reviews, 107 abstracts, 10 chapters in textbooks, and has received over 3500 citations. Sherif M Badawy

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Hematology, Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation)

My primary area of interest clinically is children and adolescents with chronic health conditions, including sickle cell disease (SCD), thalassemia, hemophilia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Dr. L. Nelson Sanchez-Pinto is a pediatric critical care physician, biomedical informatics specialist, and clinical data scientist. He graduated from medical school at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2006, and then completed a Pediatrics residency program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in 2011, and a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in 2014. My primary clincal and research interest is in the field of fetal cardiology. I am interested in advancing screening fetal echocardiograms in addition to continuing my research in fetal arrhythmias and congenital heart disease.

Lisa Simons

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Adolescent Medicine)

I am a clinician-educator in the Division of Adolescent and Young Medicine with specific interests and expertise in mental health care for adolescents, LGBT health, gender-affirming health care and HIV prevention and treatment.  I work with young people in our Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine Clinic as well as in the Gender Development Program.

I came to the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital as a Pediatric Emergency Medicine attending after graduating fellowship in 2014. I am currently the Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship and serve as a College Mentor at the Feinberg School of Medicine.

My area of academic interest focuses on pediatric neurocritical care especially as it pertains to epilepsy, status epilepticus, coma, brain injury, and neurophysiology.

Professor of Pediatrics (Neonatology)

Isabelle De Plaen, MD, is an attending physician in the Division of Neonatology (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) at Lurie Children’s, Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and the co-director of the Center for Intestinal and Liver Inflammation Research at Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute.
