Pooja Patel

Instructor of Pediatrics (Rheumatology)

Dr. Patel joined the Division of Rheumatology in 2020. She is experienced in all areas of general pediatric rheumatology but has a special clinical and research interest in complex rheumatic diseases including systemic lupus erythematosus and systemic vasculitis. Dr. Patel is fascinated by the pathophysiology of autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases. She enjoys taking on complex cases with diagnostic and therapeutic challenges and tailoring immunosuppressive therapies to help patients achieve the best quality of life possible. Maria H Rahmandar

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Adolescent Medicine)

Dr. Rahmandar is an attending physician in the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Lurie Children's, the Medical Director of the Substance Use & Prevention Program, and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, with a secondary appointment in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She is board-certified in Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. She joined the faculty at Lurie Children's Hospital in 2017, and her interests include adolescent substance use, mental health and long-acting reversible contraception.

Soyang Kwon

Research Associate Professor of Pediatrics

Dr. Kwon is interested in epidemiological studies and wearables data analyses for health outcomes and behaviors, such as obesity and physical activity, among children and families.

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Nephrology)

Kavita S. Hodgkins, MD, MSCI, is a Board Certified Pediatric Nephrologist and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Defne Magnetta completed medical school at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. She then completed her Pediatrics Residency at The Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh from 2013-2016. She completed her fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiology at The Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh from 2016-2019 and served as Chief Pediatric Cardiology Fellow during her final year. Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics

I am interested in Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema) and alternative medicines. We have created a center called the Chicago Integrative Eczema Center that is devoted to taking care of patients with eczema and their families, with an emphasis on education about the disease. I am also very interested in connective tissue diseases such as lupus and dermatomyositis. I am a medical acupuncturist and am interested in alternative medical approaches to dermatologic diseases. Barbara K Burton

Professor of Pediatrics (Genetics, Birth Defects, and Metabolism)

I am primarily interested in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with inherited metabolic disorders and in clinical trials of new therapies for rare disorders. I have particular interest and expertise in disorders diagnosed through newborn screening (phenylketonuria and others) and in lysosomal storage disorders.

Duri Yun

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Dermatology) and Dermatology

Dr. Duri Yun is a board certified dermatologist who practices general pediatric dermatology and has a special interest in teledermatology. Her expertise includes birthmarks, inflammatory skin disorders, skin infections and exanthems.
