Residency Program Leadership

Thank you for your interest in Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Our program’s mission is to provide the highest quality training to every resident and the highest quality care to every child and family. We are proud to serve a large, racially, ethnically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse community and love calling Chicago our home.

Each year, we recruit, welcome, and support pediatric residents with diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, and wide-ranging interests in clinical care, leadership, advocacy, research, medical education, and beyond. We know that we learn better, deliver better care, and think more creatively and expansively when we do.

The culture of learning, teaching, and intentional design is a point of immense pride for our program and department. We view our residency - from the schedule, to the curriculum, to the mentoring - as an opportunity to not only train the best future clinicians and leaders but also shape the future of pediatrics. Our goal is to recruit and graduate incredibly smart, prepared, thoughtful pediatricians and leaders and to deliver training in a way where residents feel supported, purposeful, challenged, and able to over three years deepen their appreciation and love of medicine, science, curiosity and passion for patient care in all of its dimensions.

Engagement, passion, compassion, humility, curiosity, teamwork, and communication are vital elements of this process. We seek residents who have a growth mindset and are ready for the challenge of contributing to a program that is always working to improve ourselves, as well as the lives of children, families, and communities. Our program is both structured and flexible. We provide exceptional clinical training as well as intentional and individualized opportunities for residents to explore and advance their skills and interests in the full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient subspecialties, science, quality improvement, health informatics, healthcare administration, advocacy, policy, community partnerships, global health, simulation, education, and beyond.

Finally, our residents get to do all of this while living in the vibrant and dynamic city of Chicago, the best big city in America, with its world-renowned food, architecture, festivals, neighborhoods, museums, music, recreation, beaches, and more.

If you are interested in collaborating with us, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We welcome your questions and interest.
