John E Fortunato, Jr.

Professor of Pediatrics (Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition)

Dr. Fortunato is the Director of the Neurointestinal and Motility Program in Pediatric Gastroenterology. He graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine and trained in general surgery for 5 years at the University of Chicago before pursuing pediatrics. He completed his training in pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology at Johns Hopkins University. He has been a member of the faculty at Wake Forest University, University of Colorado, and Virginia Commonwealth University before joining Northwestern in 2016. Rajesh Kumar

Professor of Pediatrics (Allergy and Immunology)

Dr. Kumar has worked as an academic allergist at Lurie Children's for over 18 years. He has a number of research interests. Most prominently he is interested in the prenatal and early life exposures, which in combination with genetic factors are associated with the development of early childhood wheezing, atopic disease and asthma. Dr. Kumar also has interests in a number of other areas including:the determinants of lung function from childhood into later adult life (CARDIA study), development of food allergy in early infancy, and validation of PROMIS instruments in asthma (AAD-PEPR study). Christina M Barriteau

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Hematology, Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation)

Dr. Christina Barriteau is a pediatric hematologist and transfusion medicine specialist. She is Medical Director of the blood bank at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Barriteau's clinical interests include sickle cell disease, pediatric transfusion medicine and health equity.

As a clinical educator, my goals are to combine my clinical interests in general pediatric cardiology as well as more specialized clinical expertise in echocardiography and exercise medicine, with my interests in fellow education.

Bria Marielle Coates

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Critical Care)

I am a physician-scientist who specializes in pediatric critical care medicine. I received my MD from the University of Washington and completed my Residency in Pediatrics and Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Northwestern University. I joined the faculty in the Pediatric Critical Care Division in 2011.

Mahima Keswani

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Nephrology)

Mahima Keswani, MD, is a Board Certified Pediatric Nephrologist and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She serves as the Medical Director of Dialysis for the Division of Nephrology.  She received her B.A. in Biology from Rutgers University, and her M.D. degree from the Rutgers School of BIomedical and Health Sciences (formerly University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey). Dr. Keswani completed her residency in Pediatrics at Children's National Medical Center in Washington DC and her fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital in Boston, MA.

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Infectious Diseases)

I am a pediatric infectious diseases physician-scientist and Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control. My research interests are in the areas of healthcare epidemiology and infection prevention and control, with a focus on healthcare-associated infections and infections caused by emerging high-consequence pathogens. My translational research program is currently focused on Clostridioides difficile, Clostridium innocuum, and COVID-19.
