Adam B Becker

Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Preventive Medicine (Public Health Practice)

Dr. Becker has extensive training and experience in the practice of Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) and has written a number of book chapters and articles on this approach to examining and addressing public health problems. He has applied this methodology to examine and address the impact of stressful community conditions on the health of women raising children, youth violence prevention, and the impact of the social and physical environment on physical activity. Jill H Samis

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Endocrinology)

I am a pediatric endocrinologist engaged in clinical care and clinical research.  My clinical interests are in the care of children with long-term endocrine sequelae of childhood cancer, thyroid disorders, growth disorders, and disorders of puberty.  I participate in the multidisciplinary STAR (Survivors Taking Action and Responsiblity) clinic and participate in the Fertility & Hormone Preservation & Restoration Program.

Dr. Tan is Professor of Pediatrics at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, and a Pediatric Infectious Diseases attending; Medical Director of the International Patient Services Program (IPS); co-Director of the Pediatric Travel Medicine Clinic; and Director of the International Adoptee Clinic at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois. Steven E Krug

Professor of Pediatrics (Emergency Medicine)

My primary areas of interest lie within the broad continuum of emergency medical services for children (EMSC). I am interested in issues relating to pediatric readiness of the various components of the EMSC continuum, including prehospital and hospital-based services. Within the realm of pediatric emergency care, i am interested in a variety of clinical issues, including care quality and patient safety. More recently, I have focused on issues relating to pediatric disaster preparedness. My interests in EMSC also include public policy and health care access.

Roger A de Freitas

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Cardiology)

I completed complete training in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology as well as adult internal medicine and adult cardiology. This affords me both a unique perspective on the long-term management of patients born with congenital heart disease, but allows me to fully integrate into the care of patients across the full age spectrum. Reema L Habiby

Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Endocrinology)

I am a pediatric endocrinologist primarily engaged in clinic care and medical education. My clinical interests include the care of children with growth disorders including Turner syndrome, disorders of puberty, adrenal disorders and the care of children with long-term endocrine sequelae of cancer treatment and brain tumors. I am the co-director of the Turner Syndrome Multidisciplinary Clinic. I am the Interim Division Head, director of the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program and I serve as a college mentor for the Feinberg School of Medicine Class of 2022.

Initially spent several years after fellowship in an academic role. I went into private practice for many years becoming comfortable with adult allergy patients as well as pediatric patients. Currently have a mix of clinical practice in an academic center as well as maintaining a private practice.

Assistant Professor of Neurology (Epilepsy/Clinical Neurophysiology), Pediatrics and Pharmacology

The primary aim of our research is to identify the genetic factors and biological mechanisms that cause epilepsy. We use a variety of sequencing technologies to identify new genetic causes in both the DNA regions that code for proteins (genes) and those that control the expression of these genes (regulatory regions). The second mission of our lab is to capitalize on the advances in gene discovery in epilepsy to create neuronal models of this disorder.
