Jeffrey B Brown

Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition)

My primary clinical and research interest is IBD (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis) where I am the medical director of the IBD program at Lurie Children's, which now includes physician/APN/PA specialists, a psychologist, nurse clinicians, dieticians, and a dedicated social worker. I focus on translational and clinical research, including investigation of novel biomarkers, collaboration with overlapping specialists at Lurie and participation in numerous clinical trials. We are an active participant on the international IBD quality improvement and research consortium, Improve Care Now.

Alyssa A Kriegermeier

Instructor of Pediatrics (Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition)

As a pediatric hepatologists I care for children with transient and chronic liver diseases, as well as those that require liver transplantation. I am very grateful for the opportunities to care for our amazing patients. I enjoy building relationships with patients and families, and working collaboratively to keep children as healthy as they can be so they can thrive in all areas of life. 

Anna G Joong

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Cardiology)

Dr. Anna Joong completed medical school at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She then completed her Pediatrics Residency from 2009-2012 and served as Pediatric Chief Resident at New York University from 20012-2013. She completed her fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiology at Columbia University Medical Center from 2013-2016 and in her final year of fellowship served as Chief Fellow in Pediatric Cardiology. My interests center around primary care and the coordination of care for children with special needs and children with medical complexity.  

Hiroyuki Hirai

Research Assistant Professor of Pediatrics

Dr. Hirai joined Northwestern University in July 2018 from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Dr. Hirai completed his postdoctoral training in Molecular pharmacology at Northwestern University, Chicago and Stem cell biology at University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.

Cynthia E Castiglioni

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Hospital-Based Medicine)

Dr. Cynthia Castiglioni completed her undergraduate education at the University of Notre Dame and received her medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh. Professor of Preventive Medicine (Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention) and Pediatrics

Lifang Hou, MD, MS, PhD is a Professor of Preventive Medicine. With a multidisciplinary background in medicine, basic science, and epidemiology, Dr. Hou’s research interest lies in integrating traditional epidemiologic methods with the ever-advancing molecular techniques in multi-disciplinary research focusing on identifying key molecular markers and understanding their potential impact on disease etiology, detection, and prevention. Ahmad Sami Chaouki

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Cardiology)

I am interested in the diagnosis and management of pediatric and adult congenital arrhythmias. In addition to medical management of infants, children and adults with congenital heart disease with arrhythmias or inherited cardiac diseases, I perform noninvasive and invasive cardiac electrophysiology studies and catheter ablations as well as implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators

Meghan E O'Neill

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics)

Dr. O'Neill specializes in the comprehensive care of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. She completed her undergraduate degree in psychology and pre-professional studies at the University of Notre Dame, her medical school degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, a general pediatrics residency at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, and a neurodevelopmental disabilities combined residency/fellowship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Kristi Huisinga, M.D. is a Health Systems Clinician in the Division of Hospital-Based Medicine at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Instructor at the Feinberg School of Medicine. She attained her medical degree at the University of Minnesota and completed her residency training in general pediatrics at the University of Michigan.
