Third Year Medical Students

Our Core Pediatric Clerkship for third-year medical students of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg) is a six-week program divided into three two-week rotations: two weeks on a general medicine inpatient unit, two weeks on a subspecialty service/urgent care unit at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago (Lurie Children’s), and two weeks with an outpatient preceptor, learning well-child care with an emphasis on normal development.

The emphasis of this pediatric clerkship is on interviewing pediatric patients and their families, and performing a history and physical examination (H&P) on infants, children, and adolescents. You will learn the skills of taking and writing a pediatric H&P, oral presentation of patient information on rounds, and utilizing evidence-based medicine to generate a differential diagnosis and treatment plan.

Please note, the third-year clerkships are available only to Feinberg students. Additional details on the clerkship are available to Feinberg students via eMerg.
